Continuing education requirements vary from State to State, as does what qualifies as accepted continuing education activity. So it is essential for every licensed therapist to be very aware of his or her individual State license requirements, if any, for continuing education.
EACH PHYSICAL THERAPIST AND PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSISTANT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MEETING THE LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS OF THE STATE IN WHICH HE/SHE PRACTICES.
ErgoRehab’s courses are designed in congruence with national certification and continuing education guidelines, as well as, requirements of State Licensing Agencies for continuing education activity. These criteria include guidelines developed by the International Association of Continuing Education & Training (IACET) and the National Commission of Certifying Agency (NCCA). Our home study courses meet all State requirements for continuing educational material and contain elements that APTA’s BOD 03-97-32-91 - "Guidelines for Evaluating Continuing Education Programs" has identified as essential elements of quality continuing education programs. There is no single organization or agency that accredits sponsors of continuing education activity for PTs and PTAs. The APTA no longer endorses or accredits individual sponsors of continuing education activity. ErgoRehab makes every effort to obtain preapprovals for our courses, in States in which they are offered, in order to make the process of choosing the right continuing education sponsor as easy as possible. The following is a list of organizations that have accepted ErgoRehab's home study courses for continuing education credit hours for PTs and PTAs:
- Arkansas State Board of Physical Therapy
- Delaware Examining Board of Physical Therapy
- Florida Physical Therapy Association
- Kansas Physical Therapy Association
- Louisiana State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners
- Maryland State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners
- New Mexico Physical Therapy Board
- Ohio Physical Therapy Section of the APTA
- Texas Physical Therapy Association
*If your state is not listed or in pending status, please contact us and we may seek approval for you, have update or be able to advise whether your state has a pre-approval process.

The following is a list of States whose physical therapy licensing agencies do not have a formal preapproval process for continuing education activity and do not require continuing education sponsors to preapprove their coursework:
AL, CA, CO, CT, GA, HA, ID, IN, IA, KY, MN, MA, MI, MN, MS, NE, NJ, NY, NC, ND, OR, PA, PR, RI, SC, SD, TE, UT, VT, VA, VI, WA, WI, & WY
Home study courses do not need to be pre-approved in order to be considered acceptable continuing education activity by a State Licensing Agency. ErgoRehab chooses to seek pre-approvals in those States that offer them as an added benefit to our course participants. We feel this approach to course development gives you the assurance that ErgoRehab’s home study courses are developed in the highest of quality and exceed the minimum standards for continuing education activity in each State.
